IFL WEEK 14: PLAYOFF RACE TIGHTENS WITH THRILLERS, UPSETS AND STAT‑PACKED PERFORMANCES
Week 14 unfolded with urgency across the league as teams continued to fight for position in a tightening playoff race. The week delivered high‑tempo offenses, shocking upsets and several finishes that came down to the final possessions. With the regular season nearing its close, every moment carries added weight.
Jacksonville Sharks (9–2) at Green Bay Blizzard (10–2)

Jacksonville and Green Bay opened the week on Friday night with a heavyweight matchup in the Eastern Conference where the winner would have number one spot. The Sharks arrived in Green Bay riding an eight game winning streak while the Blizzard came into the matchup stunned from a shocking upset against Quad City.
Green Bay used a dominant 33 point second quarter to put the Sharks on ice. Blizzard quarterback Liam Thompson, who finished the night with 142 yards passing and three touchdowns, and wide receiver Trevon Alexander (6 catches, 77 yards, 2 TDs), who also added a rushing touchdown on three carries for four yards, led the way for the offense.
Jacksonville countered behind James Cahoon's 156 passing yards and two touchdowns, while receivers Billy Bowens (5 catches, 48 yards, 2 TDs) and Redd Douglas (4 catches, 42 yards, 1 TD) kept the Sharks in rhythm. The ground game provided a huge boost as running back Jimmie Robinson Jr. carried the ball eight times for 60 yards and Sammy Edwards was able to get two touchdowns on five carries.
Green Bay's defense was led by their defensive back Najei Snyder, who finished with ten tackles. The secondary continued to set the tone as Marcus Hillman had eight tackles and an interception.
Jacksonville saw strong efforts from defensive back Rudy Silvera with nine tackles. Linebacker and IFL tackle leader, Isaiah Major, added seven tackles while defensive back Clay Fields III was a game changer with five tackles and forced a fumble.
The Blizzard's red‑zone execution and timely stops in the second half proved decisive as they held off a late Jacksonville push. Once again the Blizzards spot to lead the Eastern Conference was challenged and Green Bay was able to come out on top. Green Bay also became the first team this season to punch their ticket into the playoffs.
New Mexico Chupacabras (1–10) at San Antonio Gunslingers (4–7)

San Antonio delivered its most complete performance of the season, overwhelming New Mexico from the opening drive. New Mexico endured their eight straight loss, and seventh consecutive loss where they gave up 40 or more points.
Recently signed quarterback Zachary Calzada had a solid debut, throwing for 186 yards, five touchdowns through the air and three touchdowns on the ground. He distributed the ball to receivers Austin Upshaw (6 catches, 94 yards, 2 TDs), Derrick Rose (5 catches, 88 yards, 2 TDs) and Zach Patterson (4 catches, 57 yards, 2 TDs) . Glen Gibbons Jr. was able to bring down his ninth receiving touchdown of the season on a 13-yard strike from Calzada.
New Mexico struggled to match the pace, with CJ Jefferson (4 catches, 37 yards) leading the receiving group. Quarterback Avaun Rucker faced some struggles, throwing for 47 yards but was able to reach the endzone on a 3-yard run in the third quarter.
The first notable performance on San Antonio's defense was that of Ravarius Rivers, who racked up four tackles and intercepted a pass. Larry Brooks III, on the other hand, added four more tackles to his record. Chris Chukwuneke contributed two tackles and intercepted a pass of his own. Gunslingers defensive lineman Octavious Oxedine made a great diving play and took the interception all the way for a touchdown.
As for the defense of the Chupacabras, the team could count on Kywon McCray, who earned six tackles and a PBU, as well as Gleson Sprewell, who made five tackles and a PBU. New Mexico's special teams was able to add energy to the game for the Chupacabras, by managing to block a field goal.
The Gunslingers' offensive and defensive lineups played very efficiently against their opponents.
Quad City Steamwheelers (5–7) at Iowa Barnstormers (1–10)

Quad City kept up its strong end-of-season form, playing a well-rounded game on offense while applying consistent pressure on defense. Steamwheelers have won three out of four games and are looking to secure a playoff spot.
Daquan Neal threw five out of six times for 49 yards and one touchdown, and ran three times for 13 yards, but he got injured and had to leave the game. Judd Roberts then took control of the team and ended up throwing three times out of seven for 38 yards in the game. Running back Trenton Barnes was responsible for leading the charge in the running game, gaining 64 yards on 13 carries and scoring one touchdown.
Aviles-Santos completed 88 yards and two touchdowns for Iowa's quarterback position. The throwing game relied on receiver David Elder and Demonte Martin with five and four receptions for 58 and 40 yards respectively, while Demonte Martin contributed one touchdown from his receptions.
For Quad City, their strong defensive effort was led by their defensive lineman KeShaun Moore who dominated the front with three tackles and two sacks. Steamwheelers' defensive end Charles Rosser recorded three tackles, forced a fumble and scored a touchdown off of it. Meanwhile, Malik Duncan and Donnell Brown managed to intercept passes in the game. Steven Adair helped his team with three tackles and forced a fumble for them.
The Iowa defense was spearheaded by Ahman Ross with his six tackles and JK Smith, who made five tackles himself. The Iowa defense did not back off and was able to hold the offense of Quad City, who managed only 1 out of 5 conversions in third-down situations.
The efficiency of the Quad City defense gave them control of the match from beginning to end. With their consecutive wins under their belt, the Steamwheelers will be ready for their last four matches of the season.
Orlando Pirates (6–5) at Tulsa Oilers (6–5)
Oilers 52, Pirates 50
Tulsa edged Orlando in one of the week's most dramatic games. With a field goal in the final seconds being the deciding factor for Tulsa to continue their four game winning streak.
TJ Edwards II delivered for the Oilers with 179 passing yards and five touchdowns and added eight carries for 24 yards and a rushing touchdown. Jerminic Smith Sr. (9 catches, 99 yards, 4 TDs) turned in one of his top performances of the season.
Orlando countered with Paxton DeLaurent's five total touchdowns and strong production from the receiving duo of Thomas Owens (3 catches, 30 yards, 1 TD) and Nyqwan Murray (3 catches, 28 yards, 1 TD). Pooka Williams carried the ball 12 times for 58 yards and three touchdowns.
In the tough battle, it was the combination of Tre Harvey (seven tackles), Tariq Bracy (seven tackles), and Fredrick Mallay (five tackles) that enabled Tulsa to withstand the attack.
For Orlando, the answer came in the form of an equally intense defensive effort spearheaded by the secondary as DJ Daniel and Hector Johnson had nine tackles each, along with one interception and five tackles from Leon O'Neal.
The Oilers stole the spotlight with a tremendous win at home. As the underdog heading into this matchup, they pulled off the victory and kept their playoff hopes alive.
Tucson Sugar Skulls (5–6) at Vegas Knight Hawks (9–2)

Tucson got themselves a notable road victory due to their great finish in an offensive battle in the fourth quarter. Whereas Vegas tasted defeat for the first time since opening weekend against Green Bay.
Ja'Rome Johnson has been on fire since joining a new club, throwing for 92 yards, rushing for 67 yards through six carries, and scoring three total touchdowns. Brandon Mackey sparked the ground game with five carries for 18 yards and two touchdowns. In the passing attack, Justin McGriff (four catches for 53 yards) and Jaivian Lofton (two catches for 31 yards and a touchdown) each found room to operate against the league's top defense.
Knight Hawks' quarterback Jayden DeLaura passed for 216 yards with 3 touchdowns while also scoring two more touchdowns by rushing. He connected with Deshon Stoudemire (seven receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown) and John Erby (five receptions for 57 yards and a score), spreading the ball to both targets with confidence. Josh Tomas ran wild in the backfield and had 102 all-purpose yards(39 rushing and 67 receiving) and a touchdown.
Ahmad Lyons (five tackles) and Aaron Jackson (six tackles) dominated Tucson's defense at the defensive back position. In addition, Bri'On Murray recorded four tackles and an interception. Despite having to face one of the best offenses in the league, the Sugar Skulls were up to the task by stopping Vegas from scoring a 50-point score for the first time since the IFL cup.
Defensive support for the Knight Hawks was provided by defensive back Clifton Duck with five tackles and their linebacker Maurice Jackson with four tackles. Terry Roberts provided support with two tackles.Vegas managed to remain competitive because of the solid performance from their defense, keeping Tucson below 200 yards of offense.
A late surge in scoring and good defensive play ensured that Tucson gained an important away victory, showing what could be done against one of the best teams in the Western Conference.
San Diego Strike Force (8–2) at NAZ Wranglers (1–10)

The Strike Force came back after a bye week, having had no difficulty in defeating the Wranglers and extending their winning streak to four games in a row. With the win, they have successfully completed their series against Northern Arizona throughout the season.
Nate Davis passed for 187 yards and three touchdowns. On the other hand, Edward Vander rushed 13 times for 45 yards and scored three touchdowns, while adding four receptions for 42 yards and one touchdown. Other receivers who made contributions include Jalen Sample with four catches for 49 yards and one touchdown and Cole Blackman with four receptions for 41 yards and one touchdown.
The Wranglers' quarterback Anthony Garrett added another great game to his record with 160 yards of total offense and three touchdowns. The top performers at receiver included Ka'Ron Ashley (8 receptions, 74 yards, 1 TD), and Kobe Smith (2 receptions, 28 yards, 1 TD).
The defensive secondary of San Diego made all the difference in the game, with both Devin Hafford and Herman Smith putting up some impressive statistics. Hafford was everywhere on the field and finished the game with a team high eight tackles, while Herman Smith delivered a brilliant defensive performance with three tackles and two interceptions, the highest in the season.
In reply, Northern Arizona showed tenacity in its defense, spearheaded by the contributions of their defensive backs, Brendon Luper and Trae'Varis Ferrell. Luper set the tone with seven tackles and a PBU while dropping into coverage, and Ferrell stayed steady with six tackles as he continued his reliable play.
It was the efficiency and the ability to make takeaways that gave San Diego control of the game.
Fishers Freight (6–6) at Arizona Rattlers (7–4)

Fishers secured an exciting win to end the week as special teams execution helped them get past Arizona.
Felix Harper completed passes for 137 yards and three touchdown passes and rushed eleven times for 31 yards. In the league leading rushing department, the best performer was Josiah King who rushed eleven times for 20 yards and a touchdown and also recorded a touchdown catch. Even with a limited number of carries, the top rusher of the league, Dominic Roberto, managed to score a touchdown after rushing five times.
For Arizona, quarterback Drew Powell passed for 189 yards and three touchdown passes and rushed six times for 24 yards and one touchdown. Receiver Trey Odoms-Dukes had five receptions for 64 yards and one touchdown, while Arland Bruce IV recorded five catches for 52 yards and a touchdown, and Kymani Clarke made three catches for 20 yards and scored a touchdown as well.
Defensive efforts were defined by a high intensity and a lot of "hit 'em in the mouth" football style from both squads. The defense of Fishers started off their game in great fashion thanks to Raneiria Dillworth who contributed seven tackles on the day to lead all defenders. Jaiden Roe played just as intensely, adding eight tackles and a PBU for his team. Drake Johnson and Jacorey Benjamin also had six tackles apiece.
On the other hand, Arizona managed to bring their own excitement to the game defensively. Yahsyn McKee Sr. dominated the game with nine tackles. Defensive Back Carlvainsky Decius added five more tackles for the unit. DJ Lundy made his presence felt in the opposing backfield with three tackles and a pair of sacks on the day.
The game featured some of the top kicking talents in the IFL, Freights' Caleb Sutherland and Rattlers' Matthew Cook. Surprisingly, though, accuracy was the theme of the evening for both teams as they were only able to convert 1 of 6 field goals attempted. Each point was key as Sutherland's pair of deuces were crucial in getting Fisher the hard fought victory.
Week 14 was a week full of offense, defense, and dramatic finishes as the league headed into its postseason push. With just a handful of weeks left, teams are figuring out their true identities as well as battling every possession.
