IFL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: WEEK 5

The Indoor Football League announces the Players of the Week for Week 5 of the 2026 IFL season. Ja'rome Johnson(NM) is named Offensive Player of the Week, Cornelius Montgomery (FIS) is named Defensive Player of the Week, and Calum Sutherland (FIS) is named Special Teams Player of the Week.
Offensive Player of the Week – Ja'rome Johnson, QB, New Mexico Chupacabras
Johnson turned in one of the most impactful performances of the week, completing 17-of-28 passes for 199 yards and four touchdowns while adding 50 rushing yards and another score on the ground. His ability to extend plays and create offense in multiple ways led New Mexico throughout the game, accounting for five total touchdowns and guiding the Chupacabras to their first win of the season.
Defensive Player of the Week – Cornelius Montgomery, LB, Fishers Freight
Montgomery anchored the Fishers defense with a team-high nine tackles, consistently making plays at the line of scrimmage and limiting opposing opportunities. He added 0.5 sack, 1.5 tackles for loss, and a pass breakup, showcasing his versatility and impact across all phases of the defensive effort in a key performance for the Freight.
Special Teams Player of the Week – Calum Sutherland, K, Fishers Freight
Sutherland delivered another standout performance on special teams, converting 7-of-8 PAT attempts while adding three deuces to finish with 14 total points. His ability to consistently flip field position and contribute to the scoring effort continues to be a major asset for Fishers, as he earns his second Special Teams Player of the Week honor this season.
