SAN DIEGO, California – The Strike Force have re-signed defensive end Robert Caldwell to their 2020 Indoor Football League roster.
Caldwell (6-4, 245, North Carolina State University) re-signs with San Diego for a second season. After joining the Strike Force late in the season, he recorded 19 total tackles (9 solos) in just three games. He recorded a season high of eight tackles against the Arizona Rattlers (May 19).
"Caldwell has the ability to be great edge rusher in the IFL along with the tools to also step in as a linebacker," said Strike Force General Manager Ryan Eucker. "We're looking forward to seeing his experience elevate the competition immediately in training camp."
Caldwell made his way to the Strike Force after playing in the National Arena League for the Columbus Lions. In 2018, he played in 15 games, produced 62 tackles (39 solo), and had one sack. He was also a key contributor in the 2015 PIFL Championship for the Lions before their transition to the NAL.
The California veteran started his first two years at the College of the Desert and then transferred to North Carolina State University. He made an appearance in every game on special teams in 2012. Caldwell's senior year he had a total of 106 tackles (45 solo), 15.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and a forced fumble. He ended his collegiate career on a high note by receiving an invitation to the Cleveland Browns Rookie Camp in 2014.
