2018 IFL Rookies of the Year Announced

The Indoor Football League (IFL) is proud to announce the 2018 Offensive and Defensive Rookies of the Year.

Offensive Rookie of the Year: Jeff Ziemba (QB, Arizona Rattlers)

Arizona Rattlers QB Jeff Ziemba has been named the 2018 Offensive Rookie of the Year. Taking over the starting position after 2017 IFL Rookie of the Year Verlon Reed was injured, Ziemba (6'2,210,Shepard University) proved to not only be a steady hand for the Rattlers but an explosive one.

Ziemba finished his rookie campaign completing 166 of 271 passes for 1,745 yards and 39 touchdowns. His 39 passing touchdowns ranked second in the IFL while his 1,745 passing yards ranked third. In addition, Ziemba rushed for 257 yards and nine touchdowns.

Ziemba was named the IFL's Offensive Player of the Week during Week 6 as his seven passing touchdowns that week were the most thrown in the IFL this season. In addition, Ziemba's offensive prowess helped the Arizona Rattlers not only lead the IFL in points per game (53.3), but helped Arizona advance to the playoffs for a second consecutive season.

Defensive Rookie of the Year: Ricarlo Bell (DL,Cedar Rapids Titans)

Cedar Rapids Titans DL Ricarlo Bell has been named the 2018 IFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. Bell's ability to make plays in the backfield quickly made him one of the most feared defensive playmakers in the IFL.

Bell (6'3,250, Shepherd University) concluded his rookie campaign with 36 tackles, seven sacks, 14 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. His seven sacks and four forced fumbles each led the IFL. His 14 tackles for loss tied him for second in the league.

The Cedar Rapids defensive lineman was named the Week 16 Defensive Player of the Week in a game where he recorded two sacks, three tackles for loss and two forced fumbles. Bell was named a First Team All-IFL Defensive Lineman at the conclusion of the season.
