Week 16 Players of the Week Announced

The Indoor Football League (IFL) is proud to announce the Vidswap.com Players of the Week for Week 16 of the 2018 IFL season.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Damien Ford (WR, Sioux Falls Storm)

In what has become an instant classic, the Sioux Falls Storm edged the Iowa Barnstormers 51-49.  The matchup featured two of the top three teams in the IFL standings and forced a three-way tie for the top spot in playoff seeding.  Storm WR Damien Ford picked a great moment to have his best game of the season.  The 6'3, 200 lbs. second year player hauled in 7 passes for 162 yards and 2 TDs.  He was also the recipient of a Lorenzo Brown pass for an important fourth quarter, two-point conversion.  The Storm will look to finish the regular season strong with a home contest against Green Bay this weekend.

Honorable Mention: Javon Bell (WR, Cedar Rapids Titans), Brady Roland (WR, Iowa Barnstormers), Drew Powell (QB, Iowa Barnstormers), Lorenzo Brown Jr. (QB, Sioux Falls Storm)

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ricarlo Bell (DL, Cedar Rapids Titans)

With a 34-27 victory over the Green Bay Blizzard, the Cedar Rapids Titans have won consecutive games for the first time since 2016.  Defense was the name of the game for the Titans, limiting their opponent to under 30 points in back-to-back weeks.  DL Ricarlo Bell set the tone, registering 4 tackles (3 for loss), 2 sacks, and forcing 2 fumbles.  With his exceptional day, Bell has moved into first place with an IFL leading 7 sacks and 4 forced fumbles during the 2018 campaign.  The Titans will finish the regular season with a road trip to intrastate rival, the Iowa Barnstormers.

Honorable Mention: James Calhoun (DB, Cedar Rapids Titans), Josh Jenkins (DB, Green Bay Blizzard), Tyrell Pearson (DB, Iowa Barnstormers), Trey Wafford (DB, Sioux Falls Storm)

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Damond Powell (KR, Sioux Falls Storm)

Dezmin Reed (6'1, 235 lbs, Appalachian State University) is the second Storm player to be honored in Week 16.  Tied at 49-49 against the Barnstormers with 5 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, Iowa lined up for a game-winning field goal attempt.  Reed then made the play of the game, bursting through the line of scrimmage and blocking the attempt.  After a scramble for the loose ball, Iowa was able to recover, but was tackled in their own end zone, resulting in a safety for the Storm and a two-point victory as time expired.

Honorable Mention: Javon Bell (KR, Cedar Rapids Titans), B.J Hill (KR, Green Bay Blizzard), Raheem Harvey (KR, Iowa Barnstormers), Miles Bergner (K, Sioux Falls Storm)
