Week 16 Players of the Week Announced

The Indoor Football League (IFL) is proud to announce the Vidswap.com Players of the Week for Week 16 of the 2017 IFL season.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Drew Powell (QB, Nebraska Danger),

The Nebraska Danger escaped the Cedar Rapids Titans in overtime 52-46 and continue to stay in the race for the second seed in the Intense Conference playoffs.  QB Drew Powell, in his first start for the Danger, punched the ball in from one yard out in overtime to give the Danger the victory.  Powell proved to be the the Danger's key goal line weapon throughout the game as he rushed for four touchdowns. Powell led the Danger in rushing as he finished the night with 102 rushing yards. In addition to his rushing, Powell also had an efficient night thought the air completing 16 of 25 passes for 146 yards and one touchdown.  The Nebraska Danger face off against the Sioux Falls Storm in Week 17

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jamie Bender (DB, Iowa Barnstormers)

The Iowa Barnstormers continue to be the surprise team of the year as the team won their tenth consecutive game, 58-36 over the Salt Lake Screaming Eagles. The Barnstormers defensive secondary were ballhawks vs the Screaming Eagles, accounting for five interceptions. DB Jamie Bender snagged four interceptions alone during the game, a feat few in the IFL have ever done. Bender set the tone early grabbing three of his interceptions in the first half. The Iowa DB then continued his dominant performance snagging his fourth interception late in the third quarter and returning it for a touchdown. Bender finished the game with nine tackles, two tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, four interceptions, an interception return for a touchdown and a pass breakup. The Iowa Barnstormers host the Spokane Empire in Week 17.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Tyler Williams (RB/KR, Wichita Falls Nighthawks 

The Wichita Falls Nighthawks downed the Green Bay Blizzard 44-37 in Week 16 and continue to stay in the United Conference playoff race. Against the Blizzard, RB/WR Tyler Williams had one of the most impressive all-purpose performances in recent IFL history. Williams accounted for 287 all-purpose yards, the most in the IFL this season and fourth most in IFL history. En route to his total, Williams totaled 112 rushing yards, 42 receiving yards and 133 kick return yards. The Nighthawks utility man added three touchdowns on the night as well (two receiving, one rushing). After his 287 yard performance, Williams surpassed 2,000 all-purpose yards on the season and becomes the first IFL player since 2009 to accomplish the feat. The Nighthawks host Colorado in Week 17.
