Week 9 Players of the Week Announced

The Indoor Football League (IFL) is proud to announce the Vidswap.com Players of the Week for Week 9 of the 2017 IFL season.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Darrell Monroe (RB, Arizona Rattlers)

With a 73-60 victory over the Salt Lake Screaming Eagles in Week 9, the Arizona Rattlers have won four out of their last five games and are one of the hottest teams in the IFL.  Breaking their strong tradition of being among the passing yardage leaders, the 2017 Rattlers rank second in rushing averaging 107 yards per game. Leading the charge in Week 9 was RB Darrell Monroe. Monroe (6'2,220, Arizona Western) proved to be a juggernaut as the Rattlers inched towards the endzone as he barreled in for five rushing touchdowns, the most in the IFL this season. He finished his performance on the night with 14 rushes for 80 yards, an impressive 5.7 yards per carry. He also added two receptions for 16 yards. Monroe leads the Rattlers in rushing yards on the season with 256 and has scored 7 touchdowns this season. The Rattlers host longtime foe the Spokane Empire in Week 10.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Daejohn Love (DB, Iowa Barnstormers)

The Iowa Barnstormers seem to be getting better each week as the team defeated the Nebraska Danger 48-14 in Week 9. Winners of five out of their last six games, Iowa's defense has taken a charge in shutting down offenses. DB Daejohn Love (5'11,190, Upper Iowa) repeatedly shut down the Danger on the night as he intercepted three passes in the game, the most in the IFL this season. Love snagged his interception throughout the game as he got one in the first quarter and two in the third quarter. In addition to his interceptions, he finished the game four total tackles .As a defensive unit the Barnstormers made five interceptions on the night. This is the second week in a row a member of the Iowa defense has been named IFL Defensive Player of the Week (Javicz Jones, Week 9).After a three game homestand , the Barnstormers go back on the road in Week 10 as they look to defend their "Iowa Bowl" trophy against the Cedar Rapids Titans.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Marcus Barnett (KR, Cedar Rapids Titans)

The Cedar Rapids Titans fell to the Wichita Falls Nighthawks 81-52 in Week 9, however they did something they have been unable to do all season: score quickly. KR Marcus Barnett (6'1,185, Cincinnati) got the Titans off to an incredible start against the Nighthawks as he returned the game's opening kickoff 46 yards for a touchdown to give the Titans the early lead. Barnett then proceeded to contribute on all aspects on the offense as he threw for two touchdowns and rushed for 39 yards. Barnett finished his night with 8 returns for 158 yards, a kickoff return for a touchdown, three rushes for 39 yards, 17 passing yards and two passing touchdowns. The Titans host the Iowa Barnstormers in Week 10 in a rematch of the "Iowa Bowl"
