Storm Take Down Rival Titans 51-26

Sioux Falls, SD — The Sioux Falls Storm won their second game of the 2017 season against the Cedar Rapids Titans with a 51-26 victory.

The Storm would be the first to strike after a five-yard quarterback keeper by Lorenzo Brown increasing the score to 7-0. Tre' Parmalee would cut the lead to 7-6 after a 26-yard pass from Brion Carnes. Storm veteran Mike Tatum would take in the hand-off from the one-yard line to increase the Storm's lead to 14-6, ending the first quarter.

Starting the second quarter, the Storm would score first after a five-yard run by newcomer Robbie Rouse, bringing the score to 21-6. The Storm would extend their lead after Justin Syrovotka kicked a 19-yard field goal, to bring the score to 24-6. Tre' Parmalee and Brion Carnes would connect for the second time to cut the Storm's lead in half, ending the first half with a score of 24-12.

The Storm was the first to score in the second half, with a 33-yard reception by Melvin German, increasing the lead to 31-12. Lorenzo Brown would score back to back touchdowns when Lorenzo Brown hit Korey Williams with a five-yard touchdown pass to improve the score to 38-12 and then he would connect with Melvin German to make the score 45-12.

In the fourth quarter, Justin Syrovotka would extend the lead 48-12 after making a 20-yard field goal. Cedar Rapids would answer back after Brion Carnes would connect with Damond Powell for a 29-yard reception, bringing the game to a 51-20 ballgame. Justin Syrovotka would miss a 39-yard field goal attempt giving Cedar Rapids the ball back with 54 seconds remaining in the game. Brion Carnes would hit with Damond Powell to bring the final score to 51-26.

Storm quarterback, Lorenzo Brown finished the game with 147 passing yards and three touchdowns, as well as 74 rushing yards and one touchdown. Running Back, Robbie Rouse, rushed for 67 yards and scored one touchdown. Storm kicker, Justin Syrovotka made three field goals and went 6 for 6 on extra points. Tyler Knight accumulated seven total tackles while Matt Hermanson and Julian Gener both had one interception.

Titans QB Brion Carnes finished the night completing 13 of 26 passes for 198 yards and four touchdowns. He also threw two interceptions. WR Tre Parmalee led the team in receiving with five receptions for 78 yards and two touchdowns. DB Fred Griggs led the team in tackles with 11.

The Storm improves to 2-0 on the season while the Titans falls to 0-2. The Storm returns to action Monday, March 11th when the Storm will face the Nebraska Danger in Nebraska. Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m.
