Fort Collins, CO – The Colorado Ice are pleased to announce the signing of a pair of former members of the Northern Colorado football team. Patrick Walker and Chuks Nweke will be in training camp with the team starting on February 11th.
Walker is a 5’9”. 190 pound wide receiver from Long Beach, CA. Walker comes to the ice after a prolific career with UNC where he was a three-year starter and broke NFL receiver Vincent Jackson’s school records for receptions in a season and in a career. Walker’s senior year was his best season, as he hauled in 84 catches for 1,171 yards on his way to being named a third-team FCS All-American. His finest game was in 2011 against North Dakota, when he had ten receptions for a staggering 315 yards, setting both a school and conference record for single game receiving yards.
Nweke is a 6’1”, 203 pound defensive back who is originally from Colorado Springs. He played in 33 games in his career with the Bears, racking up 66 total tackles, 3 interceptions, and 2 tackles for losses. Nweke graduated from Northern Colorado with a finance degree in the spring of 2011. Nweke was named to the Colorado Springs Gazette All-Area 1st team as a senior at Cheyenne Mountain High School prior to enrolling at UNC.
The Ice will be in training camp from February 11th through the 15th, and will announce the final roster following the conclusion of the camp. The 2013 campaign starts for the Ice with a preseason game at home against the Metro State Football Club team on February 21st.
