Daniel Dufrene (5’10, 220) was one of the best running backs in the Indoor Football League (IFL) during the 2012 season as he rushed a team-leading 146 times for 657 yards and 23 rushing touchdowns. As a receiver out of the backfield, he had 29 catches for 236 yards and 3 touchdowns. A teammate of Williams at the University of Illinois, Dufrene has been a constant contributor for the Slaughter since 2011. Dufrene ranks 28th on the Illinois All-Time rushing list with 1,233 yards and five rushing touchdowns in his career. Dufrene was also a very effective receiver out of the backfield catching 40 passes for 327 yards and two scores.
Conte Cuttino (5’10, 205) is the all time leading rusher at Stonybrook University where he racked up 3,607 rushing yards. He also added 20 rushing touchdowns and 245 receiving yards during his time at Stonybrook. Conte was rated as the 70th best running back in the 2010 draft. After going undrafted Conte later signed with the Hamilton Tigercats of the CFL. “I'm proud to have the opportunity to continue honing my skills and bettering myself for the next level with the Slaughter organization. During my time in the CFL and playing abroad in Finland, it's made me a stronger and better person as well as a player. I'm appreciative of every opportunity and understand that they can be taken just as fast as they are given. The Slaughter organization is getting a hungry, humble player looking to prove to all that he belongs with the best of them, and is deserving of a shot at the elite level” said Conte.
Demarcus James (6’1, 200) is a former All-IFL performer at defensive back and kick returner, in his stints with the Alaska Wild and Richmond Revolution. In 2010 with Richmond, Demarcus made 76 tackles, had ten interceptions for 208 yards scoring twice, forcing two fumbles and twelve passes broken up. He was also a standout return man returning 48 kicks for 820 yards and two touchdowns.
Kevin Concepcion (6’2, 215) attended the University of Buffalo where he played defensive back prior to be transitioned to wide receiver. Conception is an Indoor Football veteran having spent time with the Rochester Raiders and the Erie Explosion. While with Rochester in 2010 Concepcion was named to the All-IFL team for his receiving numbers of 65 receptions for 921 yards and 31 touchdowns which remains the league record for touchdown receptions in a season. Concepcion followed that performance with a great season with the Explosion where he registered 110 receptions for 1,502 yards, and 47 touchdowns to lead the SIFL.
“We are excited to add these dynamic playmakers to our team for the 2013 Season. Kevin is a threat to score whenever he gets his hands on the ball and Demarcus can create havoc in the defensive backfield as well as in the return game. These players will add a new dynamic to the Slaughter this season” said Offensive Coordinator Pat Pistorio.
