Week 5 IFL Players of the Week Announced
The Indoor Football League (IFL) is proud to announce the Players of the Week for Week 5. 

Offensive Players of the Week: Clinton Solomon (WR, Texas Revolution)week5clintonsolomon

The Texas Revolution defeated the Green Bay Blizzard 57-40 on Sunday in Allen, TX.  Trailing 30-21 at the half, the Revs came out firing on all cylinders after intermission, outscoring the Blizzard 36-10 in the second half.  Clinton Solomon continues to prove why he is one of the IFL’s all-time greats.  With a new team, in a new situation, and a rookie signal caller, Solomon remains one of the League’s top targets.  During the game, Solomon hauled in 10 catches for 114 yards and 4 TDs (3 in the second half).  For the season, Solomon leads the IFL in catches (24), yards per game (94.7), and receiving TDs (8).  Next up for the Revs is a road trip to Casper to take on the Wyoming Cavalry.

week5pasqualevacchioDefensive Player of the Week: Pasquale Vacchio (LB, Cedar Rapids Titans)

After opening the season with a loss at the hands of the Revolution, the Titans have rattled off 3 straight wins.  On Saturday night the team defended their home turf against the Fever with a 58-45 victory.  The defense for the Titans continues to improve with each passing game, forcing 5 Fever turnovers.  The “man in the middle” for the Titans is LB Pasquale Vacchio.  In his rookie IFL season, Vacchio has quickly become one of the League’s best tacklers.  On Saturday, he registered 13 tackles (3 for loss), 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovery.  For the season, Vacchio ranks 3rd in tackles with 39.  This weekend the Titans host the Bemidji Axemen.

Special Teams Player of the Week:  Rockne Belmonte (K, Cedar Rapids Titans)week5rocknebelmonte

Kicker Rockne Belmonte joins teammate Vacchio as the 2nd Titans player to be honored this week.  An already three-time honorable mention thus far in 2014, Belmonte breaks through as our Special Teams Player of the Week.  In the 58-45 victory over the Fever, Belmonte converted 3 of 4 field goals and 7 of 7 PATs for a total of 16 points.  Belmonte has now converted 10 of 13 field goals on the season for a league leading 77%.  He also leads all kickers with 46 total points (3rd overall).
