Week 2 Players of the Week Announced
Week 2 of the Indoor Football League (IFL) season is in the books.  The following player’s performances earned them Players of the Week honors.

Offensive Players of the Week: Cody Kirby (QB, Nebraska Danger)week2codykirby

After a tough loss to the Storm in Week 1, the Danger got into the win column with a 43-19 victory over the Bemidji Axemen.  Filling in for injured starting QB Jameel Sewell (back), the 2013 IFL MVP, reigning IFL Rookie of the Year Cody Kirby had an impressive debut with the Danger.  Kirby completed 17 of 29 passes for 206 yards and 2 TDs, while adding 73 yards rushing and a score.  It remains to be seen if/when Sewell will be able to return to the lineup, however, the Danger have a luxury that not many teams share in having two All-IFL quality signal callers on their roster.  The Danger will be back at home this weekend in an interconference matchup with the Texas Revolution.

Honorable Mention:
Jackie Chambers (WR, Tri-Cities Fever)
Chris Dixon (QB, Sioux Falls Storm)
Judd Harrold (WR, Sioux Falls Storm)
Jasonus Tillery (WR, Colorado Ice)

The three-time defending United Bowl Champion Sioux Falls Storm are off to a fast start in 2014.  The team is 2-0 after defeating both Intense Conference playoff teams from a year ago (Week 1, 52-35 over Nebraska/Week 2, 41-30 over Colorado).  Against the Ice, LB Tyler Knight made his presence felt.  The reigning Defensive Player of the Year is proving that 2013 was no fluke.  He tallied a league high 15 tackles during the contest, leading the Storm’s defensive unit which allowed the Ice to convert only 4 of 12 third down attempts.  The schedule does not get any easier for the Storm, who will travel to take on the Tri-Cities Fever this weekend.

Honorable Mention:
Pig Brown (LB, Nebraska Danger)
Lionell Singleton (DB, Tri-Cities Fever)
David Stlouis (LB, Wyoming Cavalry)
Joe Thornton (LB, Colorado Ice)

Special Teams Player of the Week:  Boris Lee (LB, Tri-Cities Fever)week2borislee

After a disappointing 2013 season in which the team failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time since joining the IFL in 2010, the Tri-Cities Fever began their 2014 campaign with a dominating 69-26 victory over the Wyoming Cavalry.  Veteran LB Boris Lee’s play stood out amongst many quality performances from Fever players.  During the game, Lee blocked two Cavalry field goal attempts, returning one for a TD in the 3rd quarter.  In addition, Lee registered 9 tackles (1.5 for loss), 1 sack, and 1 pass break up.  For his efforts, Lee is this week’s Special Teams Player of the Week.  Next up for the Fever is a showdown with the Storm.

Honorable Mention:
Brady Beeson (K, Tri-Cities Fever)
Parker Douglass (K, Sioux Falls Storm)
