Kickoff Weekend Players of the Week Announced
After kicking off the 2014 season with an exciting weekend of play, the Indoor Football League (IFL) is proud to announce the Week 1 Vidswap.com Players of the Week.

Offensive Players of the Week: Jimmy Coy (QB, Texas Revolution)week1jimmycoy

What an IFL debut for Jimmy Coy (6’0, 210, St. Xavier University).  After an illustrious collegiate career, led St. Xavier to the NAIA National Championship in 2011, Coy quickly made a name for himself in the IFL with a 47-38 victory for the Revolution over the Cedar Rapids Titans.  For the game, Coy completed 20 of 27 passes for 204 yards and 5 TDs.  The biggest play of the game came with 53 seconds left in the 4th quarter.  Leading 40-38, Coy connected with WR Josh Floyd on a 45-yard strike, sealing the game and first win of the 2014 for the Revolution.  With weapons like Floyd and WR Clinton Solomon (all-time IFL leader in receiving yards), the sky is the limit for the Revs offense and this rookie signal caller.

Honorable Mention:
Tory Harrison (RB, Sioux Falls Storm)
Taylor Perkins (QB, Green Bay Blizzard)
Carl Sims (WR, Cedar Rapids Titans)
Clinton Solomon (WR, Texas Revolution)

A pair of Revolution teammates sweep the Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards.  All-IFL DB/KR Frankie Solomon Jr. (5’11, 185, New Mexico) turned in one of the most impressive single game performances in IFL history on opening night.  Picking right up where he left off in 2013, Solomon registered 5 tackles, 3 INTs (one returned for a TD), and 1 pass break up on defense while contributing to special teams as well, covering 78 yards on 4 kick returns including a 45-yard TD late in the first quarter.  There is no questioning Solomon Jr.’s game breaking ability as he is one of few players that can single handedly change the outcome of a game.  The Revolution has a bye week in Week 2.  The team will return to action in Week 3 when they travel to Grand Island, NE to take on the Nebraska Danger.

Honorable Mention:
Pig Brown (LB, Nebraska Danger)
Nick Johnson (DL, Texas Revoution)
Tyler Knight (LB, Sioux Falls Storm)
DeQuan Starling (DB, Bemidji Axemen)

Special Teams Player of the Week:  Parker Douglass (K, Sioux Falls Storm)week1parkerdouglass

The Sioux Falls Storm started their quest for a fourth consecutive United Bowl Championship with a 52-35 victory over the Nebraska Danger.  Another perennial All-IFL performer that got off to a quick start in 2014 is Storm kicker Parker Douglass (5’10, 180, South Dakota State).  After converting 60% of field goal attempts and 89% of PATs in 2013, Douglass was perfect on Friday night, finishing 8-8 on his kicks (1-1 FG, 35 yarder, 7-7 PATs).  Additionally, his high booming kickoffs continually pinned the Danger offense deep into their own territory to start offensive drives.  The win marks a historic 35th consecutive home victory for the Storm.  Sioux Falls will be back in action this weekend with a road contest against the Colorado Ice.

Honorable Mention:
Rockne Belmonte (K, Cedar Rapids Titans)
Donte Sawyer (WR/KR, Green Bay Blizzard)
Frankie Solomon Jr. (KR, Texas Revolution)
James Terry (WR/KR, Sioux Falls Storm)
