Sioux Falls Goes For Five

The Sioux Falls Storm (14-3) is traveling to Billings, Montana this Saturday night looking to claim their 5th title in 6 years. The Storm will be taking on the long-time rival Billings Outlaws (13-2). Kick-off is set for 8:05 PM CDT.

This will be the third meeting between the two teams this season. The two teams have split the season series with each team winning at home. The Storm defeated the Outlaws on March 22 with a 37-31 victory, and the Outlaws defeated the Storm on June 12 with a 60-40 victory. Sioux Falls holds a 3-0 record over the Outlaws in the playoffs.

The Storm look to continue dominance in the playoffs following a 52-34 thrashing of the Wichita Wild. The Lightning Strike Offense and Thunder Defense were too much to handle for the Wild in the later parts of last weeks game with the Storm outscoring the Wild 24-13 in the second half. The Thunder Defense was able to hold Darius Fudge, who ranked 1st in touches and 4th in total rushing yards in the IFL, to 10 yards on the night. Along with holding Fudge to 10 yards, the Thunder Defense put the pressure on Dixie Wooten all night and picked him off once. The Lightning Strike Offense had another huge game rushing the football. Running back James Jones led the Storm’s offensive attack with 67 yards and 3 touchdowns on 22 carries. All seven touchdowns on the night were scored on the ground. The Storm’s MVP James Terry had 62 receiving yards, 20 yards rushing, and a rushing TD on the night.
